Position Overview
This part-time adjunct teaching role is for Lone Star College’s online campus. The instructor is expected to support learning by planning, developing, and delivering EDUC 1300 coursework in a way that helps students meet course goals and enriches the college’s educational environment.
The appointment is made on a semester-by-semester basis depending on system needs. Applications are accepted throughout the year from qualified candidates interested in part-time teaching. Hiring is driven by student demand. Course offerings may be scheduled during the day, evening, or weekend, and classes may take place at different times and locations across the academic year. Adjunct faculty generally may teach up to five classes in an academic year.

LSC-Online operates as an independent campus led by a Campus President and offers flexible, skills-based online learning designed to help students complete programs in two years or less. Key Duties
The instructor will be responsible for delivering Education 1300 at various times and through appropriate delivery formats, creating lessons that keep students engaged and encourage active use of course material, and using the course syllabus in line with institutional rules.
Additional duties include submitting college reports and forms on time, meeting with and advising students before or after class or through approved communication methods, assessing student progress, maintaining professional relationships, and attending required meetings, trainings, and orientations.
Other reasonable related duties may be assigned as needed.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong command of the subject matter, effective leadership, collaboration, and facilitation abilities, and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
The role also requires openness to different perspectives, comfort working with diverse groups, and an interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course design, adult learning methods, collaborative learning, learning communities, and distance learning.
Applicants should be committed to academic excellence, high-quality service, and creating an engaging environment for lifelong learning. Experience with instructional approaches such as civic engagement, learning communities, and technology-enabled teaching is important, along with the ability to use methods that actively involve students in learning.
Working Conditions
The job is primarily sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light materials, or driving. No special physical demands are required.
Work is performed using a PC workstation in a Windows network environment, along with a calculator, phone, standard office tools, and any discipline-specific equipment. The instructor may interact with internal and external contacts as needed.
The environment is a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab setting with minimal safety risk. Work hours vary based on class schedules, and instructors must attend all scheduled classes and remain available to students outside class time.
Required Qualifications
A master’s degree is required, along with completion of any mandatory institutional professional development.
Compensation
Pay is set at $55.44 per contact hour.
