Job description

About the role

This position is for an Accounts Receivable Officer who will be responsible for keeping cash collection moving across the customer portfolio. The role focuses on making sure overdue balances are followed up in a timely and professional way, while also owning the daily credit control workflow, handling customer statements, and keeping collection records and communication logs fully up to date.

What success looks like

  • You consistently bring in cash and meet monthly collection goals.
  • Outstanding balances are chased early and regularly, so accounts do not slip through without follow-up.
  • Customer interactions stay professional and effective, leading to payment promises being made and kept.
  • The AR & Billing Manager always has clear visibility of collection progress, risks, and any issues that need escalation, without needing to request updates.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated background in accounts receivable or credit control, including managing a large number of customer accounts and pursuing overdue payments on an ongoing basis.
  • Strong dispute-handling skills, with the ability to investigate billing issues, match ledger records against customer data, and spot repeated dispute trends.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication, with the ability to preserve positive customer relationships while securing payment commitments.
  • Good judgment in deciding which collections to prioritise based on amount, invoice age, and risk, as well as knowing when to involve management for higher-value or complex cases such as credit notes or write-offs.
  • Experience preparing customer statements and keeping detailed, current records of communication and dispute progress in CRM and billing platforms.
  • Comfort working with AI and modern technology, including using AI tools to improve customer messaging, review aged debt data for trends, speed up query resolution, and automate repetitive administrative work.

Location and working arrangement

This is a remote-first position for people who live in the United Kingdom. Applications are only open to candidates who are currently based in the UK, have a valid permanent right to work in the UK, and do not need visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Application guidance

The company encourages applicants to use AI tools to help organise, improve, or proofread their application. However, any answers to the role-specific application questions should be written personally and in the applicant's own words.

Benefits

The compensation for this role is up to £30,000 per year. Benefits include remote working within the UK, 25 days of holiday rising to 30 days after two years of service, access to Perkbox employee perks, and an Employee Assistance Programme through Perkbox. After a successful probation period, additional benefits include private health insurance, currently provided through Vitality, and share options. Some benefits are discretionary and may be changed at the company's discretion.
