Job description

About KPMG

KPMG is a globally respected professional services firm, and its New Zealand team is driven by a purpose to help create prosperity for all New Zealanders. The organisation’s work is guided by the values of Integrity, Courage, Excellence, and Together, for Better.

The Opportunity

This role is suited to someone who enjoys working with numbers and keeping financial processes running smoothly. As an Accounts Receivable Officer, you will play a key part in the finance team, handling receivables and contributing to strong support for both internal teams and external clients. Accuracy, efficiency, and a service-minded approach are central to the position.

What You’ll Do

  • Match and reconcile receivables records, along with selected payables items for suppliers and staff, while identifying and fixing variances and overdue amounts.
  • Prepare payment runs and record incoming cash accurately.
  • Check financial paperwork such as invoices and employee expense claims to make sure everything is complete and correct.
  • Handle questions from creditors, debtors, and internal teams about billing, payments, and account details in a timely manner.
  • Carry out regular reviews and reconciliations to maintain the integrity of financial data.
  • Support procurement-related tasks when needed.
  • Suggest and help introduce improvements that increase efficiency and simplify processes.
  • Step in to support other accounts team members when required.

About You

You should bring at least 3 years of experience and a strong grasp of both accounts receivable and accounts payable workflows. The role also calls for someone who is comfortable working with reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, and communicating with a range of stakeholders. A professional, patient, and friendly manner is important, both face-to-face and over the phone.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with ledger and bank reconciliations, including the resolution of mismatches.
  • Working knowledge of SAP is preferred.
  • Intermediate Excel capability.
  • Experience managing relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Strong numerical ability and good organisation.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with people across all levels of the business.
  • A team-oriented, professional, and approachable attitude.

Recruitment Note

This hiring process is being handled directly by KPMG’s Talent Acquisition team. External recruitment agencies will only be contacted if assistance is needed.

Life at KPMG

KPMG welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds, including people with disabilities, mental health conditions, chronic health conditions, and neurodivergent individuals. If you have accessibility needs or need support to take part in the recruitment process, the company encourages you to get in touch for assistance.

Benefits

  • Local and international secondment opportunities.
  • Flexible hybrid working across office, client, and home settings.
  • Option to work from overseas and spend extended time with friends and family outside New Zealand.
  • Flexible leave arrangements, including the option to buy extra annual leave.
  • Gender-neutral parental support, including 18 weeks of fully paid leave for all new parents.
  • Paid professional membership of your choice.
  • Digital learning credentials through Microsoft and LinkedIn Learning, with tailored learning pathways.
  • Discounts and special offers on insurance, banking, and lifestyle products and services.
  • Access to inclusion, diversity, and equity networks such as Kiwa, Pride, Ethnicity, Accessibility, and Wahine.
  • Opportunities to take part in Green Team activities supporting the goal of becoming carbon zero by 2030.
  • Membership in local social clubs with events covering social, sporting, cultural, family, and fundraising activities.
  • Paid time off for volunteering and citizenship activities.
  • Health and wellbeing support including free flu vaccinations, subsidised sporting events, free confidential counselling, 5 additional Wellbeing leave days, and access to a wellbeing portal.
