About the role
The Accounts Receivable Officer will manage customer collections, keep account records accurate, and oversee credit-related activities. The position supports the finance function in meeting financial goals while also helping maintain positive relationships with customers.
Key duties
- Match customer payments to the correct accounts, resolve outstanding items, look into account differences, and make sure receipts are posted accurately.
- Calculate monthly provisions for bad debts and provide quarterly advice on accounts that may need to be written off.
- Review new customer credit requests, suggest suitable credit limits, and keep customer master records current and correct.
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements by gathering supporting information and answering questions promptly.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, review variances, and work through reconciling items until they are fully resolved.
- Support reporting tasks, identify opportunities to improve processes, and contribute to automation efforts that increase accuracy and efficiency.
Experience and skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, with confidence in researching and resolving finance-related issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy in reconciliations and reporting.
- Well-developed written, verbal, and listening communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Advanced Excel capability, including formulas, VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, and data analysis tools, along with solid Microsoft Office 365 knowledge.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate closely within a small, high-performing team.
- At least 3 years of experience in accounts receivable or a comparable finance role, with a tertiary qualification in accounting or finance; CA/CPA study or qualification is an advantage. Experience with ERP systems such as Business Central and exposure to regulated sectors such as pharma or FMCG would be beneficial.
Benefits

- Access to wellbeing support services, including confidential 24/7 counselling, mental health assistance, financial coaching, and manager support.
- A friendly, values-led workplace within a fast-growing business that encourages learning, development, and internal career movement.
- The opportunity to work with a high level of autonomy in an environment that supports accountability, ownership, and personal achievement.
- Access to leadership development through the Bastas Academy for Health Leadership, in partnership with Melbourne Business School, plus mentoring and progression support through the DBG Health Leadership Academy.
