Position overview
This contract-to-hire Accounts Payable Specialist role supports a busy, high-volume accounts payable function in Huntersville, North Carolina. The position is centered on day-to-day AP work such as invoice handling, vendor follow-up, and payment assistance, with occasional support for the wider accounting department when needed.
Work schedule
The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Key responsibilities
- Handle and record a large volume of invoices, including roughly 300 or more each week.
- Apply accurate coding and enter invoice data into ERP software.
- Assist with setting up vendor payments and related processing tasks.
- Work with vendors to clear up invoice mismatches and answer payment questions.
- Partner with Controllers and other accounting staff on day-to-day AP work.
- Help with reconciliations and maintain correct AP records.
- Keep paperwork and supporting files well organized while following internal procedures and controls.
Required qualifications
- Minimum of an associate degree in Accounting or a closely related discipline.
- Prior hands-on experience in accounts payable is required.
- Experience using ERP systems is necessary; IQMS is preferred, though other ERP platforms are acceptable.
- Comfort using basic Microsoft Excel functions.
- Professional communication style and a polished, dependable approach.
- Ability to work onsite four days per week in Huntersville, NC.
Preferred background
- Experience in manufacturing or another high-volume accounting environment.
- Exposure to accounting work across multiple entities or similarly fast-moving operations.
- Recent accounting graduates with relevant education may also be considered.
