Accounts Payable Officer

Job Overview

Sokoni Africa Ltd is seeking a diligent Accounts Payable Officer based in Kampala, Uganda. This role focuses on efficiently managing accounts payable processes to ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers while maintaining compliance with company policies and statutory obligations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and accurately process supplier invoices and payment requests.
• Prepare payment vouchers ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and correct.
• Execute supplier payments through authorized payment methods efficiently.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any invoice discrepancies without delay.
• Maintain precise accounts payable records and an organized filing system.
• Ensure suppliers are paid promptly in accordance with agreed credit terms.
• Compile accounts payable ageing reports and additional financial reports as requested.
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing activities to support accounting accuracy.
• Keep financial information confidential and secure at all times.
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation.
• Ensure adherence to company financial policies and compliance with tax and statutory requirements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting), or a comparable field.
• Recent graduates are encouraged to apply, welcoming entry-level candidates.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and standard financial procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office suite applications.
• Familiarity with accounting software is a plus.
• Knowledge of Uganda tax laws and financial reporting is desirable but not mandatory.
