Role Overview
The Accounts Officer will handle routine financial activity, maintain accurate books and records, and assist with reporting for the company’s last-mile delivery operations. This is a hands-on finance role that works closely with operations, dispatch, and client-facing teams to keep invoicing, collections, cash control, and reconciliations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and send customer invoices based on delivery activity and completed volumes.
- Match incoming payments with open invoices and follow up on overdue balances.
- Oversee cash-on-delivery collections and reconcile daily rider remittances.
- Keep accounts receivable ledgers current and prepare aging summaries.
- Monitor payables and support control of expenses.
- Review, process, and track rider allowances and incentive payments.
- Reconcile petty cash and operational float balances.
- Make sure all spending is properly documented and approved.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including bank reconciliations.
- Maintain well-organized records that are complete and ready for audit review.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- Between 2 and 4 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Working knowledge of accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or comparable software.
- Strong Excel capability, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
- Good grasp of double-entry bookkeeping fundamentals.
- Prior exposure to logistics, e-commerce, or transport environments.
- Experience managing cash reconciliations at scale.
