Accountant - Remote Contract Role

Role Overview

This position is a remote, hourly contractor role serving as an Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME). You will evaluate AI-generated accounting and finance responses for accuracy and clarity, create expert accounting content, assess the reasoning and problem-solving quality, and provide detailed written feedback. The role involves scrutinizing bookkeeping logic, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, financial statement presentation, and controls for precision and standards compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive AI training materials including prompts and gold-standard accounting deliverables such as journal entries, reconciliation logic, and scenario analyses.
• Review and rank AI outputs to enhance their correctness, clarity, and alignment with GAAP/IFRS and best practices.
• Ensure the reliability of AI model outputs by identifying inaccuracies, misleading guidance, biases, and unsafe assumptions in various business settings.

Candidate Profile

• Hold at least a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines; certifications like CPA, ACCA, or CMA are highly regarded.
• Possess a minimum of five years professional accounting experience across public accounting, industry, shared services, or advisory roles.
• Exhibit strong expertise in core accounting areas including revenue and expense recognition, accruals, prepaid and deferred items, fixed assets, inventory, payroll basics, and tax awareness.
• Demonstrate proficiency in preparing and reviewing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and managing month-end close tasks with audit considerations.
• Have solid understanding of financial statements (profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow) and common classification and presentation issues.
• Familiarity with internal control frameworks such as segregation of duties and audit documentation standards is expected.
• Capable of critically evaluating answers for internal logic consistency and practical business applicability.
• English language skills at minimum C1 level, with clear, structured writing and adherence to detailed guidelines.
• Self-motivated and dependable in delivering quality output consistently in a flexible, remote, contractor schedule across time zones.
• Experience with AI data annotation, accounting quality assurance, audit reviewing, or technical accounting writing is preferred.
