Job description
About the firm
Embassy Capital is a specialist asset management business based in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). The firm is licensed and overseen by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) and operates within a Category 3C regulatory framework. The team is looking for a practical, hands-on finance professional to help strengthen its finance operations during a period of growth.
Role overview
This position is responsible for the company’s day-to-day accounting, finance operations, and support for regulatory reporting. The role also covers coordination of the annual audit, assistance with budgeting and management reporting, and broader finance support across the business. It is best suited to someone who can work independently in a small, regulated financial services environment.
Core duties
Bookkeeping and finance operations
- Keep the general ledger up to date, manage accounts payable and receivable, and complete monthly bank reconciliations for the firm and any managed fund vehicles.
- Handle supplier invoices, staff expense reimbursements, and payroll inputs in line with internal approval processes.
- Prepare and record month-end and year-end journals, including accruals and prepayments.
- Maintain fixed asset and intercompany records where required.
- Oversee daily cash and treasury positions, including funding and settlement instructions.
Financial reporting
- Produce monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, for review by the CEO.
- Prepare statutory financial statements under IFRS for the firm and any related fund entities.
- Support consolidation and reporting to the parent group or Board where applicable.
Regulatory compliance and DFSA reporting
- Prepare and file periodic prudential and financial returns with the DFSA, including capital adequacy, liquidity, and other regulatory submissions, within the required timelines.
- Track the firm’s regulatory capital resources against DFSA requirements and escalate any threshold issues.
- Support the Compliance Officer/MLRO with finance-related compliance matters, including filings for the DIFC Registrar of Companies and Economic Substance Regulations (ESR).
- Stay current on DFSA rulebook updates affecting financial and prudential reporting obligations, including GEN, PIB, and COB.
Audit coordination
- Serve as the main contact for external auditors and prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents.
- Manage the year-end audit schedule, respond to auditor questions, and follow up on audit findings and management letter points.
- Liaise with internal audit or group audit teams where relevant.
Budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
- Help build the annual budget and periodic reforecasts with the CFO and business heads.
- Review actual results against budget, investigate variances, and report key findings.
- Provide financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting to support business and investment decisions.
Additional responsibilities
- Assist with tax compliance matters, including UAE Corporate Tax and VAT filings.
- Support insurance renewals and the finance-related side of vendor and banking relationships.
- Help improve financial controls, policies, and procedures across the business.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required. The role asks for 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, ideally gained in asset management, fund administration, or another DFSA-, FCA-, or SEC-regulated financial services firm. Experience with external audits is important, and familiarity with DFSA prudential and reporting requirements is a strong plus. Candidates should also be comfortable using accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or NAV/Dynamics, along with advanced Excel.
Skills and attributes
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent accuracy, and a solid understanding of internal controls and regulatory risk in financial services. They should be able to work independently, manage competing priorities, handle confidential information carefully, and communicate clearly with auditors, regulators, and senior stakeholders. A proactive, organised approach is important in this boutique, small-team setting.
Compensation and benefits
The position offers a competitive annual salary of AED 23,000, plus a discretionary annual performance bonus. Benefits include medical insurance, an annual air ticket allowance, and DEWS.
Work arrangement
This is a full-time, permanent role based onsite in DIFC, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The reporting line is to the CEO.
