Role Overview
The Accountant position, based in JLT, Dubai, is a full-time on-site role responsible for overseeing daily financial functions, including bookkeeping, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing financial statements. The role includes managing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining expense documentation, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, reconciling bank accounts, supporting audits, ensuring adherence to UAE financial laws and company policies, and delivering accurate financial information to aid decision-making. Collaboration across departments and management is essential to ensure efficient and transparent financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead accounting team activities and implement effective accounting processes and systems.
- Reconcile income statements and maintain master data in the general ledger.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and oversee online banking payment approvals.
- Ensure compliance with local revenue regulations and tax laws.
- Provide regular accounting and reporting assistance across the company.
- Manage the entire financial cycle including budget preparation and tax return filings.
- Research complex tax issues, manage tax databases, and recommend tax-saving strategies.
- Support audits and ensure timely communication with federal, state, and local authorities.
- Stay informed on industry and tax regulation changes and prepare quarterly and annual tax reports.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with an Honors degree preferred.
- Completion of Articles and at least 5 years of post-article professional experience.
- Registration with an accredited statutory body and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential.
- Full compliance as a tax practitioner, including experience filing corporate tax returns.
- Strong background in financial advisory and practical knowledge of UAE accounting and taxation rules.
- Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and MS Excel for financial analysis.
- Excellent analytical reasoning, communication, problem-solving, and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adhere to deadlines within a dynamic environment.
