Accountant - Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Month-End Closing

Role Overview

This position is for an experienced accountant to handle core general ledger work along with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and close-cycle activities. The role is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and is suited to someone who can manage detailed accounting tasks accurately and in line with reporting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, validate, and record advanced journal entries such as accruals, reclassifications, and other adjustments.
• Carry out monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts and maintain the integrity of financial records.
• Take ownership of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare financial statements, supporting balance sheet schedules, and variance analysis reports.
• Handle customer invoicing, check billing accuracy, and ensure receipts are recorded promptly.
• Track overdue receivables and follow up on outstanding customer balances.
• Match the accounts receivable subledger with the general ledger.
• Examine vendor invoices, verify correct coding, and confirm approvals before processing.
• Coordinate weekly and monthly payment cycles and support timely settlement of vendor dues.
• Administer the company credit card program, including card issuance, activation, and compliance by users.
• Review monthly credit card statements and complete the related reconciliations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
• 5 to 7 years of practical experience in general ledger accounting, with exposure to accounts receivable, accounts payable, and credit card operations.
• Hands-on working knowledge of SAP.
• Solid grasp of GAAP and financial reporting practices.
• Strong Excel capability and familiarity with ERP-based workflows.
• Excellent command of English.
