Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position in Doha is responsible for managing core accounting operations and supporting project-focused financial control. The Accountant will handle daily transactions, maintain ledgers, process payables and receivables, complete bank reconciliations, and ensure invoices and expenses are recorded correctly against the right cost centers. The role also supports closing cycles, financial reporting, budget work, variance review, audit coordination, and communication with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and monitor daily accounting transactions, including payables, receivables, and journal postings.
- Maintain the general ledger and perform bank reconciliation activities.
- Review, prepare, and process invoices while ensuring cost entries are mapped to the correct project or cost center.
- Track project spending and assist in controlling costs.
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Help prepare financial statements and other accounting reports.
- Assist with budget preparation and analyze variances against planned figures.
- Coordinate with project and procurement teams on accounting and expense-related matters.
- Respond to audit requests and information queries from management.
- Ensure accounting work complies with company policies and applicable local regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Solid background in financial accounting, including ledger maintenance, payables, receivables, and reconciliations.
- Capability to prepare and review financial reports and contribute to budgeting and forecasting.
- Strong command of accounting software and Microsoft Excel, including pivots, VLOOKUP, and reporting tools; ERP exposure is beneficial.
- Knowledge of accounting practices, tax rules, and audit expectations in Qatar or the GCC.
- High attention to detail, accuracy with numbers, and the ability to work under multiple deadlines.
- Good written and spoken English; Arabic is an added advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; ACCA, CPA, or CMA would be a plus.
- Prior experience as an accountant, ideally within construction or engineering and project-based environments.
- Ability to work well with cross-functional teams while handling sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
