About Kami
Kami is a fast-growing organization made up of creative, driven, and passionate people. Its digital classroom platform supports more than 70 million users around the world by helping students learn better and making teachers’ work easier.
With a global team of over 170 people, the company is in an exciting growth phase and offers the chance to contribute meaningfully while developing your own career in a collaborative, high-energy environment.
The Opportunity
Kami is looking for an experienced, commercially aware Accountant to join the finance function on a fixed-term basis. The role focuses on producing accurate financial reports, managing month-end and year-end close activities, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and legal reporting obligations, and assisting with key finance projects.
This is a 6-month fixed-term, full-time position based in Kami’s renovated Auckland office. The working arrangement is hybrid: office attendance is required on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while Tuesdays and Thursdays are work-from-home days.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete month-end and year-end close work to support timely and reliable financial reporting.
- Help prepare management accounts and financial statements.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and follow up on unresolved differences.
- Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory reporting rules.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and wider financial planning tasks.
- Assist with external audit processes and coordinate with auditors as needed.
- Support tax compliance activities, including GST and corporate tax information.
- Participate in Sage ERP Finance projects, system rollouts, and other ad hoc finance initiatives.
- Provide assistance across accounts receivable and accounts payable operations.
Requirements
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ or an equivalent qualification).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of post-qualification experience.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS; exposure to NZ IFRS and/or US GAAP is an advantage.
- Advanced Excel capability and hands-on experience with ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work with little supervision.
- Experience in a global, fast-moving, and dynamic organization.
Why Kami?
Kami offers the chance to be part of a mission-led, people-focused employer that is working to improve education and positively impact millions of learners and teachers.
You’ll join a diverse team with experience spanning startups, Fortune 500 companies, and major technology businesses. The company also supports ongoing learning through subsidized course fees, certifications, conferences, and free access to Udemy and other resources.
Additional benefits include the opportunity to work on a product used by schools worldwide, contribute to a rapidly growing EdTech platform, and be part of a team with strong momentum and a meaningful purpose.
