Job description
Role overview
This position is for an Account Manager who will take responsibility for the operational performance of a sizeable commercial cleaning portfolio. The role covers a varied set of locations, such as schools, offices, banks and other commercial facilities.
It is a practical, on-the-ground role focused on maintaining service quality, coaching and supporting field teams, handling client relationships and making sure daily operational needs across the portfolio are consistently met.
The role is primarily site-based and also carries substantial workforce coordination duties for a large cleaning team. This includes approving timesheets, managing leave, arranging shift cover, monitoring staff performance, delivering training and assisting cleaners and supervisors across multiple sites.
You will have support from a shared Operations Assistant and a dedicated Recruitment Manager for operational administration, hiring and onboarding across your portfolio.
Typical duties
- Carry out site inspections and spot issues early before they become larger problems.
- Re-train cleaners on site and lift cleaning standards across locations.
- Support cleaners and supervisors with operational difficulties and absences.
- Handle day-to-day staffing needs, shift coverage and operational disruptions.
- Approve timesheets, leave applications and roster adjustments.
- Meet clients and maintain productive working relationships.
- Show staff how to use equipment, machinery and cleaning processes on site.
- Follow up on operational matters and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Test and tag equipment to maintain compliance.
What the employer is looking for
Applicants should have experience leading or supporting frontline operational teams in cleaning or a similar environment. Strong communication and relationship-building ability is important, along with confidence in coaching and guiding staff on site.
The role also calls for a solid practical understanding of machinery, equipment and safe work methods, plus a sharp eye for detail and a strong commitment to service quality. Good organisation, problem-solving and time management skills are essential.
Success in this role also requires the ability to work independently, use initiative, manage several priorities at once, hold teams to account and achieve performance results. A good working knowledge of WHS obligations, SOPs, JSAs/risk assessments and the safe use of machinery is required.
To be considered, you must be able to obtain and keep a National Police Clearance and Working With Children Check, hold a current full driver’s licence, have access to a reliable vehicle, and be able to manage after-hours operational or staffing matters when needed.
