CockroachDB is built to help organizations create and scale applications more effectively. The company focuses on solving difficult infrastructure problems in ways that deliver durable value for customers. This role is part of the sales team and is centered on winning new business with innovative companies.
This position is remote, but only candidates based in Singapore are eligible.
Role overview
As an Account Executive, you will own both inbound and outbound activity in your territory. You’ll work on leads supported by marketing as well as proactively pursue a defined target account list. Your work will cover the full sales cycle, from generating pipeline to closing deals, using a value-based selling approach across customer data and marketing activation use cases.
The right candidate will be motivated to become deeply knowledgeable about CockroachDB’s product strengths, commercial value, and competitive position, while building strong relationships with customer needs at the center.
Responsibilities
- Win new customers and grow existing business in your assigned territory by prospecting, qualifying, progressing, and closing opportunities against sales targets.
- Partner closely with internal teams such as Sales Development, Legal, Engineering, Security, Marketing, and Product to move complex deals forward efficiently.
- Develop, maintain, and manage territory relationship maps, covering both current contacts and future strategic stakeholders.
- Deliver persuasive product and vision presentations to audiences ranging from senior executives to individual contributors.
- Keep forecasts accurate and provide clear visibility into sales and revenue performance by actively managing the pipeline.
What success looks like
In the first 30 days, you should be able to speak confidently about the product and understand the sales motion well enough to engage effectively with current accounts. By the end of the first month, you should also have begun building internal relationships and shaping your territory strategy.
By around three months, you are expected to have a solid account plan, have started forming relationships with leaders across your region, and have completed at least 15 customer meetings. By six months, your pipeline should be at 3x quota and you should have at least 3 POCs underway.
Requirements
- 6 to 8+ years of experience selling enterprise software, with proven success in the database ecosystem or closely related technologies.
- Experience managing large, complex sales cycles with C-level stakeholders at Fortune 500 companies, especially in fintech.
- A consultative, value-driven approach to selling software across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Strong ability to understand customer needs and develop trusted relationships at every level.
- A history of exceeding targets and consistently outperforming quota.
- Comfort working closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing and sales development.
- Excellent time management and resource prioritization skills.
- Regular use of AI tools in daily work to improve speed, quality, and decisions.
- Strong fluency using AI for research, writing, analysis, and planning as a normal part of work.
- Spoken Mandarin proficiency.
- Helpful, though not mandatory, experience working with public cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure, plus familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Exposure to selling into scaled technology startups in Singapore and Southeast Asia is an advantage.
