Job description
Role overview
This remote Account Executive position is focused on accelerating PetDesk’s expansion by bringing new veterinary clinics into the portfolio and growing relationships within existing accounts in assigned territories. The role covers the complete sales process, from outbound prospecting and qualification through product demonstrations, negotiation, and closing. It also includes managing incoming interest and working closely with the Sales Development team.
The selling style is consultative and solution-led, with an emphasis on trust, credibility, and a strong understanding of how veterinary practices operate. Success in this role depends on thorough discovery, tailoring recommendations to the buyer’s needs, and matching prospects with the right solutions across the product suite. The AE also partners across Marketing, Implementation, Customer Success, and Product to move prospects smoothly from first contact to go-live.
Key duties
- Drive outbound outreach to identify, qualify, and develop leads, then deliver demos that are aligned to the needs of veterinary clinics.
- Maintain a clean and reliable pipeline and forecast, using Salesforce and Gong Deal Boards as the primary systems of record.
- Run effective sales conversations, document call notes promptly, and prepare internal stakeholders with complete context before meetings.
- Take ownership of onboarding and handoff steps for new sales, including kickoff coordination and payment-related transitions, while using automation where possible to improve efficiency.
- Work across teams to create a seamless customer experience from initial conversation through launch.
- Operate with integrity and accountability, protect customer information, and address problems proactively.
- Keep learning continuously by staying current on product changes, market movement, and evolving sales techniques.
- Be willing to travel about 10% for trade shows, sales kickoffs, customer events, and industry conferences.
Candidate profile
Applicants should bring at least 2 years of full-cycle SaaS inside sales experience, including ownership of a personal pipeline, accurate forecasting, and consistent quota attainment. Strong CRM discipline is important, with Salesforce experience preferred and a high standard for data accuracy, documentation, and follow-up.
This role is highly virtual, with roughly 95% of the sales motion happening over phone or other remote channels, so clear communication, professionalism, and dependable follow-through are essential. The ideal candidate is coachable, responsive to feedback, highly collaborative, and able to solve problems with sound analysis and practical next steps.
PetDesk is specifically looking for someone who can focus fully on this opportunity and is not actively working multiple sales roles. Experience in the veterinary industry or in selling to small businesses is considered an added advantage.
Benefits and compensation
On-target earnings are $115,000 to $130,000 per year, with compensation structured as a 50/50 split between base pay and uncapped commission. Earnings depend on individual sales performance, creating upside for strong performers.
Additional benefits include President’s Club recognition for top eligible sales performers, employer-covered medical insurance for employees and dependents at 80% to 90%, HSA employer contributions with HDHP, 401(k) matching up to 3.5%, a dependent care FSA, dental and vision coverage, basic life and AD&D insurance, short- and long-term disability, flexible time off, 12 paid holidays, paid parental leave, pawternity leave, financial support for pet adoption, subsidized pet insurance, and a $250 annual learning and development stipend.
Hiring process and other notes
PetDesk describes its recruitment process as being based on “Who: The A Method of Hiring,” with an average hiring timeline of about two weeks. The company uses a standardized interview structure so candidates answer the same questions and are assessed fairly from multiple perspectives.
External recruiters are not invited to submit candidates. Applications sent through outside recruiting agencies will not be reviewed.
The company may use artificial intelligence tools to support parts of hiring, such as application review, resume analysis, or response assessment. These tools assist the recruiting team, but final decisions are made by people. Candidates can contact the company for more information about how data is processed.
