Job description
Company Overview
Apleona Ireland is part of the wider Apleona Group and provides integrated facilities management services to more than 200 client locations across the country. The business employs over 1,600 people and works with organizations in pharmaceutical, commercial, engineering, and technical environments. Its service model is built around direct delivery and covers a broad mix of non-core support functions, including cleaning, maintenance, technical support, and workplace services for both private and public sector clients.
Because of the range of sectors served, the role offers exposure to varied and demanding operating environments such as universities, hospitals, schools, and pharmaceutical facilities.
Role Summary
The Account Director will be a full-time hybrid hire based in Ireland, combining on-site client presence with flexibility to work from home. This position is centered on leading major client accounts, serving as the main contact for clients, and ensuring that all integrated facilities management services meet agreed standards for quality, performance, and financial delivery.
What You Will Do
You will oversee service performance across client sites, track KPIs and SLAs, prepare regular reports, and lead improvement initiatives. The role also includes guiding and supporting account teams, coordinating input from operations, technical, and commercial functions, and making sure client objectives are met.
In addition, you will build account strategies, spot opportunities for business growth, contribute to bids and proposals, manage budgets and forecasts, and help maintain compliance with health, safety, and regulatory obligations.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring strong account management experience and a proven ability to build durable client relationships while acting as a trusted partner. You should also have experience leading teams, coaching people, and managing performance across cross-functional groups.
A background in sales and account growth is important, along with the ability to identify commercial opportunities and support proposal activity. Strong project management skills are needed to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and coordinate several workstreams in complex environments.
Experience in facilities management, property services, or closely related industries such as pharmaceutical, commercial, healthcare, or education is strongly preferred. You should also be confident engaging senior stakeholders, negotiating effectively, and communicating clearly at executive level.
Commercial awareness is essential, including budgeting, forecasting, contract oversight, and understanding KPIs and SLAs. The role suits someone who is comfortable working across multiple sites in a hybrid setup, can stay organized, and can work both independently and as part of a wider team.
A relevant third-level qualification in business, engineering, facilities management, or a related field is preferred, although equivalent experience may also be considered.
