While the role focuses on consumer expertise, the ideal candidate should feel confident navigating both sectors.

Role Overview

The Account Director, Corporate role, based in Toronto, Ontario, is a full-time, onsite position. This role is responsible for leading corporate and strategic communication programs, including crafting messaging frameworks, driving executive communication, and spearheading thought leadership efforts. Collaboration with account teams, mentoring junior staff, contributing to business development, and advising clients on reputation management and issue preparedness are central activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily client communications and act as primary account lead across various accounts.
  • Partner with the Vice President to lead strategy and planning for corporate accounts.
  • Collaborate with consumer teams to integrate corporate communications into comprehensive 360-degree plans.
  • Stay informed of the evolving media environment and cultivate relationships with media and influencers.
  • Lead a team in executing innovative program ideas.
  • Participate actively in team growth initiatives including mentoring junior members.
  • Oversee event planning with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Manage and reconcile large program budgets ensuring precise billing of time and expenses.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, emphasizing technical and creative writing strength.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members to encourage constructive development.
  • Engage in new business pitching and foster organic growth through creative and strategic ideas.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably with agency background.
  • Strong expertise in corporate and strategic communications including executive visibility and messaging development.
  • Skilled in media relations, press release management, and securing media coverage.
  • Proven capacity to manage client accounts, handle complex projects, and provide senior-level guidance in dynamic settings.
  • Experience in mentoring communication teams and working cross-functionally with creative, digital, and strategy teams.
  • Knowledgeable about contemporary PR strategies, digital platforms, and approaches for measuring reputation and brand impact.
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, business, or related study; additional advanced education or certifications are advantages.

Compensation

The expected salary bracket for this position is between $90,000 and $100,000 annually.
