Position Overview

Join the JW Marriott in Singapore as a 2nd Wok Chef, specializing in preparing high-quality and authentic Chinese cuisine. This full-time role is based onsite at 30 Beach Road, Singapore, where you will play a key part in delivering exceptional culinary experiences in line with the Marriott's luxury standards.

Primary Duties

• Prepare special dishes and suitable substitutions as needed, managing food portions, presentation, and garnishing with precision.
• Monitor and regulate cooking equipment such as ovens, grills, and roasters to ensure optimal temperature control.
• Manage food thawing processes by moving items from freezer storage to refrigerator appropriately.
• Maintain accurate food logs and oversee the quality and quantity of prepared food to meet set standards.
• Communicate efficiently related to menu availability, including informing management and food & beverage staff about specials and stock shortages.
• Assist in preparing and cooking cold dishes following recipes and quality guidelines.
• Contribute to team efforts by supporting management in recruitment, training, scheduling, evaluation, coaching, and discipline of kitchen staff.
• Uphold all safety and security policies, promptly report any workplace hazards or incidents, and complete necessary safety training and certifications.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to confidentiality requirements protecting company interests.
• Engage with colleagues and guests professionally, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, lifting (up to 25 pounds), and safely maneuvering in the kitchen.
• Carry out any additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Technical, trade, or vocational school education is preferred.
• At least three years of relevant culinary work experience.
