Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and driven Designer to become a key member of the Product Team at RND Fortis GmbH. This position involves elevating our journalistic and regional brands through creative design solutions, blending strategic ideation with hands-on implementation. Working in tandem with Product Owners, Frontend Developers, and Stakeholders, you will create prototypes, visual designs, and UX strategies that enhance the usability and competitive edge of our digital platforms. This role offers a unique chance to shape journalism's digital presence by merging creativity with strategic insight.

Responsibilities

Develop and review strategic concepts, design standards, and design systems, while actively contributing tasks within the Product Backlog.
Create, prototype, and evaluate UX strategies and visualizations to boost product usability and market competitiveness.
Work closely with Frontend Developers to build and refine Design System components ensuring consistency across digital services.
Lead user research activities such as tests, interviews, surveys, and desk studies to generate user insights driving design decisions.
Present concepts and proposals to stakeholders and external partners, managing coordination and approvals effectively.
Engage in product planning, review sessions, retrospectives, and refinement meetings to align on objectives and promote continuous enhancement.
Support UI design efforts by crafting graphics and visual assets to improve overall user interfaces.

Qualifications

Educational or professional background in Design, Media Design, Software Development, or a related discipline focusing on digital design.
Several years of experience in digital product development, preferably within journalism or digital media sectors.
Expertise with design/collaboration tools including Figma, Jira, Slack, Adobe Creative Suite, and Asana.
Proven ability to plan and conduct user research independently engaging target groups via interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
Familiarity and enthusiasm for AI-driven tools like Claude, Figma AI, Large Language Models, and agent-based systems, with a willingness to explore innovative processes and technologies.
Superior proficiency in German language at minimum C1 level in both oral and written communication.
