Utility Worker

About the Role

Join Sodexo as a Utility Worker at the University of Southern Indiana, where you'll support kitchen and facility operations by ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and order across food production and dining areas. This full-time, onsite position involves maintaining equipment, utensils, floors, walls, and storage spaces, as well as assisting with setup and breakdown activities as needed.

Working Hours

The role requires flexibility to work varying shifts and hours, with open availability preferred. Detailed shift information will be shared during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities

• Manually washing dishes and/or operating dishwashing machines.
• Cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, walls, refrigerators, and meat preparation blocks.
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, and removing trash to designated disposal areas.
• Using specified cleaning chemicals to sanitize equipment thoroughly.
• Restocking supplies such as soap, paper towels, and other cleaning materials.
• Engaging in substantial walking and standing for periods possibly exceeding eight hours per shift.
• Performing physical tasks including reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting items up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Reporting reliably and punctually for scheduled shifts.
• Executing additional duties as assigned, which may vary according to client requirements and business needs.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent educational background.
• No prior work experience is necessary.
• Basic understanding of sanitation practices and fundamental food safety principles.

Compensation

Hourly wages range between $16.00 and $16.50.
