Cleanaway is a large Australian waste management business focused on turning waste into useful resources and renewable energy. The company operates nationally, employs more than 10,000 people, and aims to be known for strong safety performance, innovation, and sustainability.
Opportunity
The business is expanding its transport planning capability as part of a broader systems upgrade and operational change program. It is hiring Transport Schedulers to help shape how transport services are planned and delivered across NSW and the ACT.
This position sits within the Future Operations team and involves planning transport work more than one day ahead so that service delivery remains efficient, safe, and dependable. The role influences customer satisfaction, fleet use, service performance, and operational efficiency by balancing demand, driver availability, fleet capacity, and contractual obligations.
There are flexible location options across NSW and ACT, including Erskine Park, Somersby, Newcastle, Wollongong, Hume, and Canberra.
Key role focus
You will work across teams such as Operations, Customer Service, Transport Solutions, Sales, and Fleet to support a more proactive and data-led approach to transport planning. The role also contributes to ongoing improvement and service excellence across the network.
What you will do
- Create and refine transport schedules, routes, and fleet allocations to improve efficiency and service outcomes.
- Work with operational leaders and customer service teams to ensure plans are workable, practical, and aligned with Chain of Responsibility obligations.
- Review operational information and planning metrics to spot patterns, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Support day-to-day operations through clear communication, engagement with stakeholders, and practical problem solving.
About you
You are a strong planner who enjoys simplifying complex transport challenges into workable solutions. Experience in transport, logistics, waste management, FMCG, supply chain, or a similar operational setting will be valuable.
Success in this role will come from your ability to interpret data, connect with a range of stakeholders, and turn insights into sound operational decisions.
Additional information
The hiring process includes checks such as reference verification, confirmation of qualifications and licences, and right-to-work assessment.
The employer encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and also welcomes people of all ages, abilities, gender identities, experiences including veterans, and cultural backgrounds.
