About the Role
The Ministry of Justice in New Zealand is seeking a Test Manager for the Te Au Reka programme, a pivotal three-year fixed-term position based in Wellington CBD. This role involves leading the transformation of justice administration by replacing manual, paper-driven processes with a modern digital case management system, significantly enhancing how courts and tribunals operate and how justice is accessed throughout New Zealand.
Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive implementation planning and coordinate delivery across multiple programme workstreams.
- Manage complex dependencies among technology, operational teams, change management, and external partners.
- Support business readiness activities, including go-live planning and smooth transition into new systems.
- Facilitate cross-functional sessions to develop integrated delivery plans.
- Identify implementation risks and devise effective mitigation strategies.
- Provide strategic guidance to programme leadership regarding implementation options and constraints.
- Conduct impact assessments and readiness reviews to ensure successful delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business units, delivery teams, vendors, and external collaborators.
- Contribute to governance forums by delivering insights on implementation risks and status updates.
- Advocate for high standards in delivery, continual improvement, and a collaborative working environment.
Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience in test management within complex, large-scale environments.
- Proven ability to develop and oversee enterprise or programme-level testing strategies.
- Strong leadership skills in managing and nurturing testing teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in advising senior executives and governance bodies on testing and quality assurance.
- Experience leading testing activities within Agile, Continuous Delivery, or DevOps frameworks.
- Excellent analytical skills with evidence-based decision-making capabilities.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influence skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Relevant testing qualifications, certifications, or equivalent professional experience.
