Role overview
This temporary Recruiting Specialist position supports the People & Culture function during a maternity leave coverage period. The assignment is expected to last about 6 to 8 months and begins as soon as possible. In this role, you will be the main point person for recruiting coordination and operations, helping ensure a smooth process for candidates, hiring managers, and internal partners across the full hiring journey.
What the role involves
You will report to the Senior Director of People and Culture and handle the daily recruiting workflow across active requisitions. The position is focused on delivering an organized, responsive, and thoughtful candidate experience while keeping hiring processes moving efficiently in a remote-first environment. The work combines recruiting coordination, ATS administration, candidate communication, and support for hiring teams.
Key responsibilities
- Manage interview scheduling from start to finish for active job openings, coordinating calendars between candidates and interviewers.
- Keep the applicant tracking system accurate and current, including requisitions, candidate stages, and disposition updates.
- Prepare, publish, and maintain job advertisements across approved external boards and internal channels with consistent messaging.
- Act as a main contact for candidates and ensure communication is timely, professional, and aligned with the company’s values.
- Support offer preparation and pre-boarding steps such as background checks and new hire paperwork in partnership with HR operations.
- Monitor recruiting metrics, maintain dashboards, and track hiring progress, pipeline health, and open roles.
- Document recruiting procedures and standard workflows to improve consistency and continuity.
- Protect and enhance the candidate experience at every stage through clear, organized, and empathetic interactions.
- Provide hiring managers with recruiting support, including process guidance, coordination, and logistics assistance.
- Prepare interview materials, schedules, and panel resources; manage virtual interview setup and resolve day-of technical or coordination issues.
- Support broader People & Culture projects and administrative tasks as needed.
- Help ensure recruiting and hiring practices follow applicable local, state, federal, and company requirements.
Required background
The ideal candidate brings at least 3 years of recruiting experience and has handled 5 or more open requisitions at the same time in a recruiter or coordination role. Strong ATS experience is expected, along with familiarity using AI tools in recruiting contexts. Experience with Lever or Greenhouse is preferred. A background in CPG, retail, or beauty is also preferred, especially within a mission-driven or candidate-care-focused brand.

You communicate proactively, work well with candidates and hiring teams, and care deeply about providing a positive hiring experience. You also bring sound judgment, the ability to solve problems with data and experience, and confidence in advising and supporting hiring managers.
Technical and workplace skills
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Slack, and similar business tools is required. You should be able to collaborate effectively across teams and levels in a remote-first environment, and prior experience supporting a fully remote team is strongly preferred. Comfort working with artificial intelligence solutions in a thoughtful and ethical way is also important.

Compensation and work arrangement
This is a W2 temporary assignment with an hourly pay range of $38.00 to $48.00, based on experience. The role is fully remote within the US and is expected to run for approximately 6 to 8 months. The employer of record may be different even though the assignment is at Once Upon a Farm.
