Temple Facilities Assistant II

Job Overview

This role is responsible for ensuring temple ordinances are conducted with precision and dignity, and that all records are accurately maintained and accessible to duly qualified Church members. The position fosters a welcoming and spiritually uplifting environment for temple visitors. It encompasses the operation and upkeep of temple facilities, including the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems under the direction of the Temple Facility Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and optimize the computerized heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to their highest efficiency.
• Maintain water treatment processes for boilers, culinary water, and cooling towers by conducting tests to regulate pH, hardness, and conductivity.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on laundry equipment ensuring functionality.
• Service kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, and bread mixers to guarantee proper operation.
• Manage baptismal font filtration and purification systems, including water supply and mixer valves, to comply with local water quality standards for pH and chlorine content.
• Maintain electrical systems, including high voltage industrial wiring, motor control systems, and lighting systems across multiple voltages and configurations.
• Clean, maintain, and repair electronic systems including computerized temple recording systems, television terminals, printers, cabling, and power supplies.
• Maintain and adjust audio-visual projection, sound, and communication systems within the temple.
• Implement necessary modifications to mechanical and electrical temple systems as required.
• Contribute to annual facilities budgeting, timecard processing, and FMAT project administration.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of at least two years of technical education in a skilled trade plus four years of relevant trade experience.
• Minimum of two years experience in physical plant operations involving skilled trades such as electrical work, electronics, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, general construction, blueprint interpretation, mechanics, and floor coverings.
• Proficient in shop organization and inventory management.
• Flexibility to rotate shifts and assignments while learning critical temple systems.
• Basic computer literacy and possession of any legally required licenses.
• Physical capability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
