Telecom Installation Technician

Job Summary

The Telecom Installation Technician is tasked with the setup of telecom hardware, structured cabling systems, fiber optics, and both AC and DC power connections while adhering strictly to project blueprints, quality benchmarks, and safety standards. This position is integral to ensuring the successful implementation of telecom infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Install telecom devices including MPLS-TP, DWDM systems, routers, switches, and other network equipment according to approved specifications and manufacturer instructions.
• Set up LAN/WAN infrastructures incorporating copper and fiber optic cables, patch panels, racks, and cable management assemblies.
• Execute AC and DC power terminations for telecom equipment and associated panels.
• Manage installation and wiring of DC distribution units such as MCBs, fuses, terminal blocks, power distribution units (PDUs), and additional panel components.
• Conduct fiber optic cable laying, termination, and assist in fiber splicing processes.
• Ensure installations are neat, well-organized, professional, and properly labeled with meticulous cable routing and dressing.
• Interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, cable schedules, and installation layouts accurately.
• Perform continuity checks and basic cable/fiber testing while supporting engineers during advanced testing operations.
• Comply with all project-related quality, safety, and housekeeping protocols consistently.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

• Proficient in telecom equipment installation and structured cabling methods.
• Sound understanding of fiber optic standards, installation, termination, and splicing techniques.
• Knowledgeable in AC/DC power systems and electrical components used within telecom panels.
• Ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and detailed installation drawings.
• Familiarity with basic testing equipment for cables and fibers.
• Experience in AC/DC wiring and telecom panel assembly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with Saudi Energy Company (SEC) telecom projects or substation installations is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail paired with excellent craftsmanship in both equipment installation and cable management.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills within a team environment.
