Job Overview
The Technical Officer - Electrical is tasked with guaranteeing the operational readiness and maintenance of all electrical equipment and systems within the department. The role involves implementing enhancements to infrastructure aimed at improving performance efficiency and minimizing maintenance expenses. The incumbent ensures all preventive, corrective, and improvement tasks are performed on schedule and safely without interrupting airport operations. Additionally, responsible utilization of resources and workforce management with a focus on cost reduction is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and oversee maintenance activities conducted by contractors following Oracle schedules, ensuring timely completion.
- Conduct quality assurance audits through inspections of electrical and fire life safety assets, generating detailed reports based on facilities asset management systems.
- Develop and assess electrical work methods in collaboration with contractors and the Permit To Work (PTW) team to secure safe and efficient work practices complying with standards.
- Lead a team comprising in-house and contractor electrical supervisors in executing daily preventive maintenance audits and improvement projects.
- Initiate requisitions for spare parts and services via Oracle within approved budgets.
- Assist in drafting technical scopes and specifications for electrical engineering projects in coordination with engineers or line managers.
- Inspect completed vendor works to confirm compliance with specifications and regulatory standards.
- Monitor spare part consumption and coordinate with contractors to maintain adequate inventory for uninterrupted operations.
- Maintain up-to-date technical data on electrical assets and regularly track asset performance using the Asset Management System.
- Perform department-related tasks as delegated by the Head of Department.
- Set and align team objectives to support broader business goals, reviewing and adjusting plans as needed.
- Manage team performance including recruitment, training, development, and discipline to uphold high standards of service.
- Provide training and development to employees to ensure effective succession planning.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with minimum 4 years related experience.
- Hands-on technical experience of 4+ years in maintenance, installation, modification, testing, and commissioning of electrical engineering systems.
- Preferably experienced in airport environments, large commercial facilities, or five-star hotels.
- Strong technical and theoretical knowledge in operations, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of electrical engineering assets and systems, including substations.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical engineering design and as-built drawings, specifications, design codes, and standards.
- Capable of managing and supervising a multinational team of electrical supervisors, technicians, and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
- Willingness and ability to work shifts and weekends.
