About the Role
The Sustainability Manager is tasked with creating, executing, and overseeing sustainability strategies that align with the environmental, social, and commercial goals of the organization. This includes evaluating sustainability performance, pinpointing areas for enhancement, managing sustainability initiatives, and ensuring compliance with pertinent regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
The role encompasses managing sustainability reporting, governing ESG data, overseeing carbon and energy usage, boosting resource efficiency, reducing waste, engaging stakeholders, and assessing sustainability risks. Collaboration with internal departments and external partners is essential to infuse sustainable methods into business processes, improve overall performance, and contribute to the organization's long-term ambitions.
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Business, Engineering, or related disciplines. They need a solid grasp of sustainability principles, ESG frameworks, environmental management, and ethical business operations. Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards like GRI, SASB, TCFD, and ISSB, as well as knowledge of carbon accounting, environmental laws, and ESG metrics, is essential.
Understanding carbon emissions, energy conservation, waste and resource management, and climate risk is required. The candidate must be proficient in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting sustainability and ESG data to deliver well-organized reports. Strong project management, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and stakeholder engagement are critical.
They should work effectively across teams and convert sustainability goals into actionable initiatives, maintaining attention to detail and managing various priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, is expected; experience with ESG or sustainability reporting software is a plus. A strong dedication to ethical behavior, responsibility, and ongoing improvement is essential.
