About Protg Ventures

Protg Ventures is the first student-run venture capital fund in Southeast Asia and the only such fund based in Singapore. Established in 2017, this fund specifically invests in early-stage ventures founded by students and recent graduates, focusing on pre-seed to seed funding rounds. What sets this fund apart is that all investment decisions are made by students themselves.

Programme Overview

The fund empowers students with authentic responsibilities akin to venture capitalists. As an analyst, you will be deeply involved in the entire investment process including sourcing deals, conducting due diligence, preparing investment memos, and pitching to the Investment Committee. The funds invested and the outcomes generated are genuine. To date, Protg Ventures has supported over 13 companies which have collectively raised upwards of SGD 35 million. Many alumni have progressed to careers in over fifty venture capital firms and startups such as Wavemaker, Temasek, and Antler.

Role Expectations

The position offers a comprehensive, hands-on venture capital experience rather than a passive observership. Participation includes:

• Attending two immersive bootcamps that introduce venture capital fundamentals, industry sector analysis, due diligence practices, and investment memo crafting.
• Engaging actively in sourcing authentic investment opportunities, managing founder correspondence, and evaluating deals during dedicated Venture Sessions.
• Learning directly from established venture capital professionals via specialized masterclasses.
• Networking within the venture capital and startup ecosystem by joining various events that connect you with founders and VCs regionally.

Additional Information

This is a leadership and educational opportunity designed for students and is not paid. However, it provides real capital deployment experience, genuine interactions with founders, and authentic investment decision-making exposure that is rare for students.
