Standardization and Compliance Desk Officer

About the Role

Our client, a prominent renewable energy industry association in Nigeria, is looking for a highly skilled professional to lead the coordination and implementation of technical standards and conformity assessment frameworks within the renewable energy field. The role supports the association's strategic goals to enhance standards adherence and promote compliance throughout the sector.

The selected candidate will act as the main coordination hub for technical standards and conformity assessment activities, providing expert guidance and assisting members in understanding and applying established standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to strengthen the credibility of the renewable energy sector, improve product quality, and establish the organization as a leading technical reference for government bodies, development partners, and investors.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the principal coordinator for all technical standards and conformity assessment procedures, managing the organization's compliance desk.
• Offer expert technical advisory on national, regional, and international renewable energy standards.
• Create user-friendly toolkits, compliance templates, and Standard Operating Procedures to help members apply approved standards effectively.
• Support the Technical Standards Committee in their technical and operational tasks.
• Distribute periodic bulletins and advisories on approved standards and new regulatory developments.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance tracking database for member organizations.
• Collect and analyze post-market and post-installation surveillance data.
• Prepare and deliver quarterly compliance dashboards and detailed reports to management and related committees.
• Identify areas where compliance is lacking; propose corrective measures and support interventions based on evidence.
• Organize quarterly technical roundtables involving members and relevant stakeholders.
• Act as the official technical contact for regulatory bodies on conformity assessment matters.
• Coordinate and facilitate pre-certification clinics for association members.
• Participate actively in national and regional standards development committees and technical working groups.
• Manage the Standards Learning Hub and central repository for standards-related information.
• Assist in designing and implementing training programs and compulsory certification initiatives.
• Document and share successful case studies and best practices from compliant member organizations.
• Produce high-quality technical memos, reports, and presentations for organizational leadership.
• Contribute to resource mobilization and funding proposal efforts related to standards and conformity assessment.
• Collaborate with the Monitoring & Evaluation team to monitor and report key performance indicators.

Candidate Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering disciplines such as Electrical, Renewable Energy, Energy Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Master's degree in Renewable Energy, Energy Policy, Standards & Quality Management, or related technical fields is advantageous.
• Professional certifications in Quality Assurance, Standards Development, Conformity Assessment, or ISO systems are highly valued.
• Three to five years of professional experience in technical standards, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or renewable energy project management.
• Solid understanding of renewable energy technologies including solar PV, solar home systems, mini-grids, and hybrid systems.
• Familiarity with national and international standards such as SON, IEC, ISO, NEMSA, and REA standards.
• Proven experience creating Standard Operating Procedures, technical toolkits, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience in monitoring post-market and post-installation compliance and quality assurance.
• Ability to analyze technical data and develop compliance reports, dashboards, and advisories.
• Knowledge of Conformity Assessment procedures and regulatory compliance processes.
• Strong documentation and communication abilities for preparing advisories, bulletins, guidance notes, and presentations.
• Experience collaborating with standards bodies, regulatory agencies, or industry associations is a plus.
• Participation in stakeholder engagement, technical committees, or working groups is preferred.
• Proficiency in data analysis software such as Excel, Power BI, or Google Data Studio.
• Competence in managing compliance databases and digital content platforms.
• Excellent facilitation skills for workshops, roundtables, and training sessions.
• Strong interpersonal skills to represent the organization with regulators, development partners, and member companies.
• Collaborative team player with problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• High ethical standards and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to independently manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to work.
• Experience in resource mobilization and developing donor-funded proposals is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Monitoring & Evaluation frameworks and relevant professional memberships are beneficial.

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is from 400,000 to 600,000 Nigerian Naira monthly, depending on experience and interview outcome.
