About the Role

This opportunity, offered through a partner company, seeks a talented SQL Developer based in Canada. The role involves designing and supporting data-driven reporting solutions tailored to diverse client environments. The ideal candidate combines strong SQL and database knowledge with effective communication skills to understand and deliver business requirements efficiently. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, you will analyze data structures, build SQL-based solutions, and integrate systems smoothly. This client-facing position encompasses development, consulting, implementation, and user-support responsibilities, providing exposure to varied projects and challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

Engage directly with clients and stakeholders to gather reporting and business requirements.
Transform business needs into robust SQL queries and reporting configurations.
Connect remotely to client systems for installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of reporting software.
Investigate client databases to locate and understand relevant data sources.
Extract, analyze, and interpret data from databases and business applications.
Assess existing database schemas, relationships, and data flow to facilitate project demands.
Create and maintain SQL objects such as views, stored procedures, functions, and tables.
Implement database fixes, updates, and optimize performance within Microsoft SQL Server environments.
Troubleshoot database-related connectivity, network, and system issues.
Work within Windows Server environments and collaborate with client IT teams as necessary.
Conduct training sessions and provide user guidance to ensure smooth software adoption.
Offer ongoing support post-implementation and take full responsibility for projects from inception to completion.

Candidate Requirements

Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server and advanced SQL querying techniques including joins, aggregations, and subqueries.
Proven ability to create and manage SQL views, stored procedures, functions, and other database objects.
Strong grasp of relational database concepts and data structures.
Experience operating within Windows Server environments.
Solid understanding of networking principles including permissions, ports, firewalls, and DNS.
Ability to access and support client infrastructure remotely.
Capacity to analyze complex technical challenges and devise practical solutions.
Effective communicator, confident in working with both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
Self-driven with organizational skills, able to prioritize tasks and own projects independently.
Detail-oriented and methodical in troubleshooting approaches.
Additional beneficial skills include familiarity with bookkeeping and financial systems, ERP platforms, IIS application deployment, APIs and JSON integration, other SQL dialects (MySQL, PostgreSQL), experience with various database systems, and C# programming knowledge.
