Role Overview

As a Software Engineering Intern on the Vehicle Control Systems team, you'll develop and test embedded software that manages critical vehicle functions such as energy storage and distribution, power modes, and core motion control features. This role demands real-time programming skill and a solid grasp of system fundamentals, ensuring the safety and dependability of electronic control units (ECUs).

Program Details

• Duration: Full-time from September 21, 2026 to April 23, 2027
• Location: Vancouver, British Columbia

This single application covers several internship streams including Test Automation & Lighting, Embedded Software, Charging, Controls Test & Automation, Thermal Controls, Systems Engineering, and Software Integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and validate embedded software for vehicle systems including battery and energy management.
• Create features for low and high voltage systems like power distribution, DC/DC controls, and fault detection and recovery.
• Architect scalable software solutions emphasizing embedded system reliability and high performance.
• Write automated tests within Unit, Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) frameworks to support quality assurance.
• Engage in crafting highly sophisticated systems that integrate multiple domains.
• Collaborate with systems and test engineers to formulate requirements, test, validate, and debug algorithms prior to deployment.

Candidate Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program at an accredited Canadian university.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming and Python is required.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Studies in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related technical fields, with intention to return to school post-internship.
• Familiarity with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Experience with automotive communication protocols like CAN, LIN, UDS, and DoIP.
• Knowledge of microcontrollers and PID controllers.
• Comfortable working with advanced 32-bit multi-core microcontrollers.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time roles provide base salary, eligibility for an annual bonus, and equity options. Additional benefits are offered based on the local market location policy.
