About the Role
CaseWorthy develops software solutions that empower human-services organizations to address critical challenges such as securing housing for homeless individuals, assisting older adults and those with disabilities, and supporting families and survivors in crisis. We are seeking early-career engineers to join our team and contribute full-stack expertise to our modern, cloud-native platform. This platform integrates an expanding data and machine-learning infrastructure with AI capabilities embedded directly into our product offerings.
Responsibilities
- Develop full-stack features using React for the front end and .NET/Node.js services within a microservices architecture hosted on Microsoft Azure.
- Leverage AI-powered coding tools and assistants, such as Claude Code, throughout the software development lifecycle to generate, test, and refactor code effectively while owning the output quality.
- Apply sound architectural and design principles including service boundaries and design patterns (SOLID, DRY) to produce extensible, reusable, and sustainable software.
- Participate in technical design decisions, influencing how features and components are constructed.
- Conduct thorough reviews of code and tests, including those generated by AI, to ensure correctness, security, and performance.
- Author and execute comprehensive testing covering unit, integration, and regression scenarios, including identifying complex edge cases.
- Translate product specifications into well-scoped tasks and clarify requirements proactively.
- Collaborate continuously with Product Management, UX, Quality Assurance, and DevOps teams as part of an evolving development process.
- Be willing to undertake up to 10% travel across the nation annually.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Practical programming experience in modern languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript/Node, supporting both front-end and back-end development including RESTful API design and JSON data handling.
- Fundamental engineering knowledge including object-oriented programming, clean code design (SOLID/DRY principles), and familiarity with relational databases, SQL, and Git version control.
- Hands-on experience using AI code generation and debugging tools like Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT gained via coursework, internships, personal projects, hackathons, or open-source contributions.
- Strong ability to read and critically assess code written by others—including AI-generated output—to ensure quality and correctness.
- Effective communication skills to clearly articulate problems and technical concepts to team members.
- A passion for learning, adaptability, and readiness to acquire new skills and technologies swiftly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with C#/.NET and/or React with TypeScript frameworks.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud platforms, preferably Azure, though AWS or GCP expertise is welcome.
- Knowledge of cloud-native concepts such as containerization, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience in test automation tools like Playwright, xUnit/NUnit, or Jest.
- Understanding or exposure to Model Context Protocol (MCP) workflows or multi-agent systems.
- Interest or experience in data platforms, including data lakes or lakehouses, analytics, or machine learning technologies.
- A strong commitment to the mission of supporting human-services organizations.
