Role Impact and Responsibilities
In this position, you will lead the creation of impactful, customer-oriented software solutions that directly influence the practice tools utilized by our partners every day. You will navigate complex and ambiguous challenges with autonomy, bringing technical expertise and operational awareness to your work. Your role will involve spearheading cross-team projects, fostering alignment across various disciplines, and shaping engineering direction through effective communication, data-driven decisions, and collaborative efforts. Beyond fulfilling assigned tasks, you will innovate workflows and employ artificial intelligence to generate new capabilities and value for the engineering team.
Team Environment
You will be part of an engaged engineering community focused on empowering small businesses by integrating them with enterprise technologies. Collaborating closely with Lead and Principal Engineers, the team embraces modern software delivery methodologies to enhance system performance, ensure reliability, and boost developer productivity. Agile practices are central, alongside incorporating external pattern recognition techniques to address complex logic challenges proactively.
Initial Focus Areas
- Developing full-stack features leveraging React, Redux, C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server technologies.
- Refactoring and balancing legacy WebForms with contemporary distributed architectures on AWS within complex, monolithic systems.
- Innovating engineering workflows by researching and implementing AI-assisted development tools through prototyping and experimentation.
- Engaging in an on-call rotation and incident response activities to maintain continuous product support and high reliability.
Work Setting
This role adopts a flexible hybrid work model based in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, or Brisbane. It combines remote work with in-office collaboration in modern facilities. Participation in scheduled team boost days fosters in-person connection, brainstorming, and promoting strong team cohesion. Occasional travel to Melbourne may be necessary.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive technical knowledge of C#, ASP.NET Core, modern front-end frameworks such as React, and SQL Server database modelling.
- Demonstrated experience deploying AI tools in production environments with tangible business or customer impact.
- Proven expertise in architecting, implementing, and refactoring distributed systems using REST APIs on AWS cloud platform.
- Solid understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) methodologies, automation tooling, and passion for test-driven development.
- A forward-thinking approach to artificial intelligence as a workflow redesign and automation capability rather than merely a productivity aid.
- Experience in building Software Development Kits (SDKs) and internal libraries enabling seamless product integration across teams is highly valued.
- Inclusive mentoring style coupled with the confidence to challenge ideas early in the design process to improve system outcomes.
