Role Overview

The early career AI software engineer will contribute to building and refining core user experiences, enhancing how users connect with value through AI-powered features. This position involves autonomous problem solving, managing significant projects, and engaging closely with experts across disciplines to improve the future of work.

Team Alignment Options

• AI product engineering focused on end-to-end model-driven features including user experience, APIs, data retrieval, orchestration, and reliability improvements.
• Model and systems engineering to enhance model integration, performance, cost, and robustness, supporting infrastructure for model deployment and testing.
• Evaluation and quality teams responsible for developing frameworks and testing mechanisms for measuring and raising model and product standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the team to prototype and launch AI-enhanced product improvements.
• Drive a defined project to production, including integrating new models, adding monitoring and safeguards, or optimizing latency, costs, and stability.
• Contribute to evaluation efforts by creating or extending evaluation data sets, executing experiments, interpreting findings, and applying them to product and system upgrades.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Less than two years of engineering experience with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Practical experience in rapid development and prototyping with exposure to AI/ML concepts through projects, coursework, internships, or hackathons.
• Familiarity with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL and understanding product integration across UI, APIs, and data layers.
• Analytical problem-solving skills balancing technical and business considerations with a user impact mindset.
• Technology pragmatism focused on effective tools over trends, including current AI development tools, emphasizing user and business value.
• Proactive and clear communicator who takes initiative and manages projects with minimal supervision.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer competitive salary packages complemented by equity and benefits. Compensation for this San Francisco role ranges approximately between $130,000 and $150,000 annually, adjusted based on location, role scope, and candidate qualifications.
