About the Company

Our client is a well-established supplier of building materials and DIY products, operating multiple branches nationwide. They are recognized for exceptional customer service and a wide product selection aimed at professional builders, DIY enthusiasts, and homeowners.
Role Summary
Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the Shop Supervisor is responsible for supporting daily branch activities and maintaining excellent service standards. The role involves supervising shop floor operations, responding to customer inquiries, assisting in inventory oversight, and performing administrative tasks.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Branch Manager with day-to-day operations and act as the manager’s substitute during absences.
- Lead customer service efforts both at the counter and around the shop floor, setting high-quality standards.
- Oversee shopfront merchandising and product presentation, assigning tasks to sales personnel appropriately.
- Handle special order processing, maintain inventory levels, and liaise with suppliers to obtain pricing and quotes.
- Promptly manage and resolve customer complaints to ensure satisfaction.
- Perform cycle counts, manage returns to suppliers, and reconcile orders as required.
- Provide staff training, contribute to performance evaluations, and assist in scheduling and payroll preparations.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards, including weekly checklist completion and store upkeep.
- Conduct end-of-day cash reconciliations and address discrepancies efficiently.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated customer service expertise and retail operations experience, ideally within the hardware or building supplies sector.
- Proven leadership skills and capability in coordinating team members.
- Competence in ERP software utilization for order and inventory management.
- Knowledge of stock management, merchandising strategies, and product display techniques.
- Experience or background in pricing strategies and product-related training is a plus.

Contract Details
This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, based onsite in Longford, County Longford, Ireland.
