Senior Programmer

Role overview

This opportunity is for an experienced Senior Programmer to support a major infrastructure organisation working on large-scale projects in Wellington. The position is part of a project controls function, with a strong emphasis on planning, scheduling, and ongoing programme management for major civil works.

Key responsibilities

• Own, develop, and maintain project programmes and schedules for infrastructure projects.
• Monitor progress across the project and keep schedules current with regular updates.
• Contribute to earned value management (EVM) activities and related reporting.
• Assist with schedule risk assessments and forecasting activities.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure planning information remains accurate and aligned.
• Support 4D planning and related coordination tasks.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated background in project planning and scheduling.
• Prior exposure to infrastructure projects or other major works.
• Practical experience with Primavera P6, MS Project, and Power BI.
• Working knowledge of earned value management and schedule risk analysis (SRA).
• Familiarity with 4D planning platforms such as Synchro 4D or Asta.
• Strong interpersonal communication and analytical thinking abilities.
