Senior PCB Layout Designer

About the Role

Join Tesla Engineering Germany GmbH in Freiburg to play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable energy technology. Our engineering team focuses on developing cutting-edge power electronic systems for energy storage and vehicle charging. You will engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration, tackling significant engineering challenges, and driving concepts through design, prototyping, and testing to final production.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute efficient and effective layout designs for complex multilayer PCBs balancing cost, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure all design specifications and requirements are achieved.
• Identify and provide solutions to hardware-related issues at the board level, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing aspects.
• Refine PCB layouts to minimize Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) challenges as identified by vendors.
• Create comprehensive documentation required for PCB fabrication and assembly processes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of three years’ experience designing circuit boards, with solid understanding of IPC standards and industry best practices.
• Proficient in designing fine pitch BGA and complex multilayer PCB boards.
• Experienced user of PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro and/or Altium Designer.
• Knowledge and experience in power supply and switching regulator PCB layouts.
• Capable of cooperating with vendors and manufacturers to troubleshoot and resolve PCB fabrication and assembly issues.
• Familiarity with PCB materials and the development of appropriate board stack-ups per design specifications.
• Strong command of English communication and a proactive mindset to propel projects forward, coupled with the ability to thrive in collaborative team settings.
