Role Overview
The role involves overseeing Trade Finance Operations including Import and Export Letters of Credit, Guarantees, and Bills for Collection. The incumbent is responsible for setting standards, supervising Trade Finance Officers to ensure timely and high-quality customer service, and ensuring adherence to International Chamber of Commerce regulations and bank policy.
The position demands processing Import and Export Letters of Credit correctly in compliance with international norms to support business units and maintain strong client relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all trade finance activities comply strictly with the customer's banking credit lines and oversee bills processing, import/export financing, and issuance of letters of credit while responding to customer inquiries.
- Review and verify customers' applications and accompanying documents in line with policies and supervise bill processing staff to guarantee regulatory compliance.
- Assist in achieving unit budget targets, managing costs, and meeting processing volume goals.
- Maintain operations within agreed Service Level Agreements to improve turnaround times, especially regarding corporate credit processing.
- Deliver foreign trade operations services effectively and cost-efficiently.
- Follow up on overdue import/export bills and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with customers.
- Establish consistent procedures and controls to mitigate risks for both the bank and its customers.
- Support the Corporate Banking Team to enhance service quality, increase business volumes, and boost income.
- Coordinate with internal and external parties to meet client needs timely and accurately.
- Maintain professional relationships with correspondent banks to facilitate problem resolution and inquiry responses efficiently.
- Offer expert advice and training to clients to protect against fraud and money laundering.
- Stay updated on changes to International Chamber of Commerce Rules and ensure bank policies are strictly followed.
- Address matters beyond ICC rules leveraging expertise and judgment.
- Prepare management reports on workflow and income metrics.
- Liaise with QNB Head Office to secure timely decisions on foreign trade transactions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or Information Technology.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Foreign Trade Operations including handling Import/Export Letters of Credit, Guarantees, and Bills for Collection.
- Comprehensive knowledge of International Chamber of Commerce regulations such as UCP, ISP, URR, Incoterms, URDG, and URC with current updates.
- Proficient communication skills in both local and English languages, verbal and written.
- Strong management ability, analytical thinking, and marketing skills.
- Regularly updated understanding of evolving procedures and systems.
