Senior Executive, Special Educational Needs Support (1-year contract)

Role Overview

This position involves delivering comprehensive assistance to students identified with Special Educational Needs (SEN) throughout their academic journey, from initial enrolment to employment. The role requires collaboration with academic personnel and other stakeholders to foster inclusive education, manage programmes and support services, oversee relevant resources and funding, maintain detailed records, and participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing educational and employment experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage cases, provide targeted interventions, and deliver skills training to SEN students from admission through graduation and eventual job placement.
• Carry out assessments to identify and regularly review the educational needs of SEN students.
• Create personalized learning support plans and advise teaching staff on inclusive methodologies, fair adjustments, and accessibility measures.
• Empower SEN students through coaching on self-advocacy, self-management, and independent navigation within school and work environments.
• Facilitate the transition of SEN students from school to workplace, including placements, adapting work environments, and engaging employers.
• Oversee the application of SEN funding and manage procurement of assistive technologies and related services.
• Maintain comprehensive SEN datasets and reports that reflect statistics and trends.
• Organize and lead programmes involving students and key stakeholders to encourage inclusion across education and employment sectors.
• Conduct research on current strategies and developments related to SEN interventions.
• Contribute to departmental projects, outreach activities, events, and initiatives promoting inclusivity.

Qualifications and Experience

• A passion for supporting students with SEN; applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply and may request accommodations for the interview process.
• Qualifications in Inclusive and Special Education, Psychology (Applied or Educational), Counselling, or related disciplines.
• Minimum two years experience working with SEN students, preferably within education or social service environments.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness.
• Proven capability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as in team settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, alongside sound administrative competence.
• Proficient in IT for data management, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
