Role overview
Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking a dependable and proactive Senior Cleaner for the Keynsham Recycling Hub on Pixash Lane. The position is based onsite and involves a mix of hands-on cleaning and team support. Around 80% of the working time will be spent on direct cleaning duties, helping to keep the facility to a consistently high standard.
Working pattern
The shift runs Monday to Friday, from 16:00 to 18:00. Overtime may be available when needed.
Main duties
- Support and coordinate a cleaning team while also working alongside them.
- Perform daily cleaning across offices, toilets, kitchens, stairwells, and shared public spaces.
- Carry out vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and other tasks needed to maintain strong hygiene levels.
- Manage the ordering and control of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Complete regular checks related to cleanliness and site safety.
- Offer courteous, professional service to everyone using the building.
- Handle light administrative work as required.
What we are looking for
The council is looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining excellent standards, can stay organised, and is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. The role suits a person who communicates well, supports others confidently, and is physically able to carry out manual cleaning tasks.
Desirable experience and knowledge
- Awareness of health and safety practices.
- Understanding of COSHH requirements.
- Previous background in cleaning or facilities-related work.
Transferable strengths
- Leadership, supervision, or mentoring experience.
- Customer-facing communication.
- Stock management and organising supplies.
- Planning, prioritising, and time management.
- Basic administration.
- Problem-solving and taking initiative.
