Job description
Overview
Join the Marlborough Scout community as an Adult Leader, supporting young people aged 5 to 18 with an adventurous outdoors education program based at MDC reserve, Churchward Park, Blenheim. The role fosters leadership and personal growth by enabling youth to participate in and help design their own activities, tailored to their age group's needs.
Role Details
Adult Leaders engage with different youth sections:
- Keas (5-7 years): Tuesdays 5:30pm - 6:30pm
- Cubs (8-10 years): Mondays 6:00pm - 7:30pm
- Scouts (11-14 years): Thursdays 6:30pm - 8:30pm
- Venturers (15-18 years): Fridays 7:00pm - 9:00pm
You will have access to scouting equipment and resources for personal enjoyment when not used for group activities. Personal development opportunities are offered, and upon investment, you become part of a global network exceeding 40 million members. Volunteers receive a uniform shirt and scarf.
Volunteer Requirements
- Motivated to work with youth across various ages and capabilities
- Demonstrates patience and compassion
- Interest in outdoor activities
- Physical fitness is a plus; however, participation in all activities is not mandatory
- Must be 18 years or older
- Full COVID-19 vaccination required
- Completion of a Police background check
Time Commitment
A minimum of one weekly evening meeting (2-3 hours) during term time is expected, with additional voluntary tasks such as planning meetings and camps.
