Role Overview

Responsibilities

  • Enhance plant reliability by analyzing current outcomes and ensuring proper execution of preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Minimize unplanned downtime, shorten recovery times, and extend the lifespan of manufacturing equipment through optimization of reliability-centered maintenance programs, thorough data collection, and routine risk-based inspections.
  • Troubleshoot major breakdowns and productivity obstacles using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and collaborative problem-solving methods.
  • Promote and instruct reliability practices among maintenance and production teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement by partnering with maintenance staff to design and implement upgrades to existing equipment and processes.
  • Identify and manage obstacles impeding enhanced engineering performance.
  • Maintain productive relationships with suppliers and contractors.
  • Support and uphold a strong Health & Safety culture within the team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in managing and enhancing machinery reliability in a fast-paced, modern manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulic systems, coupled with practical understanding of engineering techniques.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety, familiar with permit to work systems, Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), and machine guarding protocols.
  • Advanced Trade Certification and/or New Zealand Certificate in Engineering (NZCE) or relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Formal Lean principles training is an asset.
  • Expertise in RCA best practices and project management.
  • Experience with Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM).
  • Familiarity with CMMS software such as MEX or SAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
