Role Overview
The EU Regulatory Manager position demands deep knowledge of UK and EU legislation specifically related to food and supplement regulations, particularly in labeling standards. Reporting to the Senior Regulatory Manager, this role will play a key part in ensuring regulatory compliance, aiding product compliance initiatives, and facilitating international growth for THG brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert for UK/EU food and supplement regulatory matters, providing guidance across departments.
- Lead, manage, and develop a small team of Regulatory Associates.
- Offer regulatory input for business projects and new or existing product development activities.
- Evaluate product formulations to guarantee regulatory compliance within UK and EU jurisdictions.
- Approve all related packaging elements, including labels, marketing collateral, digital content, and advertisements.
- Ensure nutrition and health claims on products and promotional materials meet compliance standards.
- Oversee EU supplement notifications and registration processes when necessary.
- Track regulatory updates, perform risk assessments, and conduct horizon scanning to anticipate changes.
- Support BRCGS audits and quality management systems, serving as the regulatory lead in HACCP-related functions.
- Maintain and update regulatory policies, prepare training materials, and deliver internal staff training.
- Investigate complaints related to labeling or product compliance and implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Marketing, Brand, Supply Chain, Commercial, and New Product Development teams.
- Champion continuous improvements in regulatory processes and systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Academic degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Food Technology, Food Law, Food Safety, or a related discipline.
- Comprehensive understanding of EU food legislation encompassing labeling, claims, additives, contaminants, novel foods, packaging, and safety regulations.
- Experience interpreting and applying regulations across various EU member states.
- Awareness of emerging regulatory trends and evolving compliance obligations.
- Strong analytical capability to evaluate regulatory impacts on products and commercial decisions.
- Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and capability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficient communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commercial acumen to balance regulatory compliance with business goals.

- HACCP Level 3 certification is advantageous.
