About the Employer and Team

Transpower operates New Zealand's National Grid, a critical high-voltage network connecting power generation sites to urban centers nationwide. Its mission centers on enabling a future with net-zero carbon emissions while ensuring a dependable and secure electricity supply.

The Grid Delivery department manages all national grid activities, encompassing both capital projects and maintenance, with an annual budget of approximately $700 million in capital and $150 million in maintenance, with expected growth. The Project Support team under this umbrella provides essential assistance and performance monitoring for over 70 Project and Programme Managers overseeing capital investigation and construction projects.

Role Overview

Following an internal promotion, an opportunity has arisen for a proactive and experienced Project/Programme Coordinator with excellent communication abilities. This role suits someone who thrives in dynamic settings, values teamwork, pays close attention to financial details, and anticipates future challenges and priorities.

The successful candidate will be based in Ōtara, Auckland, offering comprehensive support to Grid Delivery Project Managers. Collaboration with stakeholders, accurate project information management, and smooth project delivery will be your key focuses.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central liaison for project support and information dissemination, handling coordination and administrative tasks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support financial aspects including forecasting, invoicing, accrual tracking, and variance reporting by collaborating closely with Project Managers and the finance team.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on project performance metrics to aid effective management.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.

Candidate Profile

You will be a collaborative individual who is eager to learn, adept at juggling multiple tasks, and brings a constructive, practical attitude with strong attention to detail.

Your application should demonstrate:

  • Experience or strong enthusiasm for project or programme coordination.
  • Sound understanding of financial principles and familiarity with financial management software.
  • Analytical capabilities to detect issues and anomalies.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel; skills with Microsoft Project are beneficial.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, capable of managing competing priorities smoothly.

Additional desirable attributes (not mandatory):

  • Experience preparing business process documents, procedures, or training materials.
  • Professional credentials in project management such as CAPM, PMP, or PRINCE2.
  • Interest in leveraging AI tools like Microsoft Copilot to drive continuous improvement.
