Project Manager / Scrum Master

About the Role

The Global Payments Technology (GPT) team at RBC is looking for a Project Manager / Scrum Master to join our team in Toronto. This junior to intermediate position combines leadership in Agile delivery with responsibilities in portfolio management and analytics. The role involves close collaboration with delivery teams, vendors, and product owners, focusing on strategic payment initiatives supported by innovative AI tools to enhance project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead small to medium delivery teams implementing Agile practices and continuous delivery principles.
• Manage project routines, facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning and retrospectives in alignment with the Agile Management Framework.
• Engage stakeholders effectively, manage internal and external dependencies, and deliver clear presentations.
• Prepare accurate portfolio reports and analytics, communicating insights to stakeholders.
• Assist in financial forecasting activities covering budgets and benefits, contributing to planning cycles.
• Support resource planning and track project costs against budgets using enterprise reporting tools.
• Identify and escalate financial issues to leadership as needed.
• Manage vendor interactions including SOW billing and accrual processes.
• Develop and maintain project schedules with tools such as burndown charts and roadmaps; identify and mitigate risks proactively.
• Enhance processes by automating reporting and monitoring through AI, utilizing generative AI assistants for tasks such as documentation and communication.
• Apply AI-based analytics to detect trends, predict risks, and provide data-driven recommendations.

Required Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent IT work experience.
• 2 to 4 years of experience managing technology projects using Agile methodologies.
• Strong organizational, collaborative, and stakeholder communication capabilities.
• Familiarity with RBC-specific portfolio tools including MIS, Planview, Confluence, and JIRA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for data analysis and reporting.
• Robust financial management skills with experience in planning, monitoring, and cost estimation.
• Willingness to learn or experience with AI-powered tools for project management and process automation.
• A demonstrated capacity to leverage technology for operational efficiency and innovation.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 2 years of Agile delivery or transformation experience and Scrum Master certifications such as PMP, CSM, or SAFe.
• Vendor and Statement of Work (SOW) management experience.
• Experience with AI applications enhancing project or portfolio analytics and automation.
• Familiarity with AI productivity tools like Copilot or ChatGPT.
• Creative problem-solving mindset to exceed current process capabilities.

Additional Information

This position is located at 180 Wellington St W, Toronto, Canada. The role requires 37.5 working hours per week and is a full-time salaried position with regular employment terms.
