Project Manager

Role Overview

The Project Manager will ensure successful completion of construction projects, meeting client expectations and adhering to Sewell Group's policies and their Construction Excellence culture. The role involves supporting regional projects across Yorkshire, with Sewell offices in Elland and Hull.

Working Hours and Location

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The role is regional, covering Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project delivery as one cohesive team, collaborating effectively with clients, subcontractors, design teams, and internal staff.
• Allocate resources adequately and define clear roles and responsibilities within the project team to support work execution.
• Continuously oversee team performance, establish objectives, and identify training or development needs.
• Set clear expectations to drive high performance and cultivate collaborative relationships with the supply chain.
• Assist with and take responsibility for communicating clear project goals.
• Maintain tidy and organized project sites including site boundaries, roads, welfare, and office spaces.
• Take accountability for health, safety, and wellbeing on projects by leading through example and reinforcing a safety-conscious culture.
• Identify, report, and address quality issues promptly to avoid delays or re-work.
• Minimize losses caused by waste of time, materials, or substandard work.
• Ensure designs are delivered as planned, fulfilling brief and maintenance requirements, staying within budget, and complying with legislation and guidance.
• Prevent breaches of environmental law, minimize disruptions caused by work, and act to reduce any adverse environmental effects.

Candidate Requirements

• Valid UK driving license.
• Qualifications at HNC level or higher along with a valid 5-day CITB SMSTS certificate.
• Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects including subcontractor coordination.
• Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
• Experience using project scheduling and web-based document management tools.
• Positive and professional demeanor.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a close team.
• Strong computer literacy; proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Proactive attitude towards delivering top-tier construction work.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with senior clients and subcontractors.
• Good organisation and task prioritisation abilities.
• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
• Flexible regarding working hours.
• Familiarity with current Health and Safety practices.

Desirable attributes include experience with both public and private sector clients, holding or pursuing professional qualifications relevant to the role, and knowledge or training in Building Information Modelling (BIM).
