Role Overview
This position reports to the Vice President of Operations for the Central Region and works closely with the National Director of Engineering. The role is responsible for managing major projects across plants in Ontario, while also supporting other Canadian sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct project delivery from planning through execution by setting schedules, detailed budgets, installation plans, and commissioning plans, while identifying risks and assigning resources across each phase.
- Coordinate day-to-day project work so milestones are met on time and within approved financial limits.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners such as plant operations and maintenance, R&D, procurement, accounts payable, contractors, suppliers, consultants, engineering firms, regulators, and municipalities.
- Lead multidisciplinary initiatives with a practical, business-focused approach, including construction management, equipment installation, commissioning, acceptance testing, and project close-out.
- Prepare status updates and reports for leadership and other stakeholders, and adapt plans when scope, timeline, or budget changes are required.
- Review and support procedure documentation and control programming used for training purposes when necessary.
- Address technical problems that arise during design, engineering, installation, and commissioning for individual equipment, full production lines, or complete manufacturing facilities.
- Carry out additional duties in line with Sika Canada Inc.’s health and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Degree in engineering in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical engineering, plus project management experience on projects valued up to $2M.
- At least 5 years of experience managing or leading small, medium, and large projects.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and SmartSheets, or a similar project management platform.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Solid understanding of compliance requirements, including OHSA, building code, electrical code, and environmental regulations.
- Experience dealing with regulatory authorities and municipalities.
- Bilingual French and English would be considered an asset.
