Role overview
The Women and Gender Equity Directorate (WGED) is a focused, collaborative team working to advance gender equality across government and communities. In this role, you will coordinate complex projects and help deliver priority initiatives that support organizational goals, including cross-department work connected to 2SLGBTQIA+ initiatives. You will also provide strategic input to the Director and prepare briefing packages for senior leaders such as the Deputy Minister and Minister.
Employment details
This opportunity includes two term positions at 75 hours biweekly, with an end date of March 31, 2027. The competition may also be used to staff an upcoming permanent position.
What the work involves
The position brings together project coordination, research, policy support, and partnership-building. You will work with community partners and rights holders to help advance equity for people of all genders and sexual orientations.
Essential qualifications
Applicants must clearly show, through their resume, that they meet the required qualifications. Assessment will rely only on the information provided, and experience should be described in a year/month format for each relevant employer. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will also be considered.
- Post-secondary study in public or business administration, project management, gender or women’s studies, social sciences, or another relevant field.
- Background in coordinating and managing projects, including planning work, monitoring deliverables, and supporting implementation and evaluation.
- Experience carrying out research and producing briefings, reports, or presentations for senior leadership.
- Experience contributing to equity, diversity, and inclusion work, including the use of a gender-based or intersectional perspective.
Desired knowledge and strengths
- Familiarity with Yukon First Nations, or a willingness to build that knowledge.
- Understanding of gender diversity and equity, or an interest in learning.
- Strong research, analytical, and writing ability for distilling complex issues into clear options and recommendations.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and a collaborative, service-oriented approach.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver under tight timelines.
- Capacity to develop and sustain effective internal and external partnerships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including content prepared for digital channels.
- Self-directed working style, with the ability to operate independently and as part of a team.
