Job description

Role Overview

This position is for an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP The Verne and HMP Portland, offering a salary of 30,491. As part of His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service, you'll contribute to the smooth functioning of a busy prison environment through diverse tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support including security checks and searches at entry gates.
  • Manage and oversee deliveries and supervise visitors.
  • Monitor telephone communications and CCTV systems.
  • Perform physical duties such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles around prison grounds.
  • Drive within prison premises, requiring a valid UK driving license.
  • Work varied shifts including weekends and nights to maintain continuous operations.

  • Possess a full, valid UK driving license.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Good judgement, common sense, and ability to work effectively within a team.
